How to Make Oatmeal Soap

Step 1: Choosing Your Base Soap

  • You have a number of different options when it comes to choosing a base soap for your oatmeal bar.

  4. You may also use scented soap bars.
  • Once you've chosen a base soap, you'll want to shred it so it can be melted.

Step 2: Grind the Oatmeal

Step 3: Melting Your Base Soap

  • Melt your base soap into a pot over medium-low heat. Once it has melted, stir in the ground oatmeal and allow it to bubble on low heat for ten minutes. At this point, you may want to add any additional essential oils, fragrances or other herbs.

Step 4: Pouring Soap into Molds

  • After allowing the soap to cool for a few minutes, pour it into molds and allow it to set for at least four hours. You can use shaped molds, or even pour your soap into a wax-paper-lined, square metal pan and cut it into bars after it has cooled.
